Pre-conference press release : National Conference on Constitutional Reforms

The Constitutional Assembly Secretariat of Sri Lanka will hold a national conference on constitutional reforms on Wednesday the 28th of June 2017 as part of outreach efforts in relation to the current constitutional reform process in Sri Lanka. The occasion will be graced by the Hon. Prime Minister, Members of the Constitutional Assembly of Sri Lanka and other distinguished guests from across diverse sectors, ensuring the widest possible participation.

The Conference aims to bring together a range of stakeholders from across diverse sectors in order to engage in the discourse surrounding constitutional reforms for the people of Sri Lanka. The event will feature addresses and technical presentations by key officials from the government and academia who have been engaged in the constitutional reform process of Sri Lanka. To facilitate this endeavour, the former Deputy Chief Justice of South Africa, His Excellency Justice Dikgang Moseneke who will be visiting Sri Lanka with a delegation from the Commonwealth Secretariat of the United Kingdom, has also graciously agreed to speak at the Conference on the topic of “Reaching a Consensus on the Constitution – the South African Experience.” The Conference will also feature an Open Forum in the form of a Q&A session with the members of the Constitutional Assembly.

The Conference will take place from 9:30am onwards at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH).
